GOTO AKI
Born 1972 in Kawasaki City, Japan. Resident in Tokyo. He has traveled to 56 countries from an around-the-world journey in 1993 to date. Using as a motif the scenery of Japan that has been created by volcanoes and crustal movement, he captures primitive landscapes that interweave the planetary flow of time and light. His group of works erases the attributes of time and place and sways between concrete and abstract, inviting the viewer to ponder the relationship between nature and humans.
He began working as a photographer in 1999 and held his first solo exhibition “journey on life” at Nikon Salon Juna 21 in the same year. Major solo exhibitions include “ LAND ESCAPES ” ( Canon Gallery, 2010), “ LAND x FACE ” ( Canon Gallery, 2015 ), and more. He has published photo collections such as “ LAND ESCAPES ” ( traviaggio publishing, 2012 ), “LAND ESCAPES -FACE- “ (traviaggio publishing, 2015), “ terra “ ( AKAAKA art publishing, 2019 ), In 2018, he shot the photos for the Canon “ The Voice of Terra [Earth] ” ad series published in Nikkei National Geographic.
